This is a "quick and dirty" visualization project. I modeled the terrain and added 3d content from Onyx Tree and Evermotion (trees) and Sugar 3D (vehicles). The terrain was generated initially by transferring Civil 3D contour splines into AutoCAD. Afterwards, I imported the splines from AutoCAD into 3ds Max and cleaned them up. I generated a terrain in 3ds Max using the terrain compound object and created a smoother version of the terrain by using the Object Deform plugin to deform a tessellated quad plane with the existing terrain. I finally added a relax modifier to eliminate the stepping from contour lines. From there on, the pavement was created by extruding splines derived from AutoCAD and creating booleans with copies of the new terrain.
